Melanated Connections (“we,” “us”) is a dating community operated by COMPRESOLUTIONS, LLC. This policy explains what we collect when you use melanatedconnections.com, how we use it and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Waitlist details: your first name, email address, city, age range, gender and who you are looking for.
- Profile details (after launch): photos, a bio, birthdate, location and anything else you choose to add, such as your background, faith, interests, education or whether you want children. Some of this, like ethnicity, religion or who you are interested in, is sensitive. You choose whether to share it, and you can remove it at any time.
- Messages and activity: messages you send, groups you join, posts you make and the members you like or block.
- Technical data: your IP address (stored in hashed form for the waitlist), browser type, device and pages visited, collected through cookies and server logs.
- Referrals: which invite link, if any, you used to join.
How we use it
- To hold your spot on the waitlist, count referrals and tell you when your city opens.
- To run the service: show your profile to other members, suggest matches and deliver messages.
- To keep members safe: verify profiles, review reports, and prevent fraud, spam and abuse.
- To understand and improve the service, for example which cities to open first.
- To send you service emails. We only send marketing emails if you agree, and every one has an unsubscribe link.
What we never do
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your sensitive details for advertising. Our sponsors and partners never receive your personal information. If you choose to buy from or sign up with a partner, you share your details with them directly.
Who we share it with
- Other members: the profile details you choose to show.
- Service providers who help us run the site, such as our web host, email delivery and, later, payment processing. They may only use your information to provide those services to us.
- Legal and safety: when the law requires it, or when we believe in good faith that sharing is needed to protect someone’s safety or to stop fraud.
- A business transfer: if Melanated Connections is sold or merged, your information would move with it under this policy.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete your information, or to remove you from the waitlist, by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live, including California, Washington and other states with privacy laws, you may have additional rights, such as the right to opt out of certain processing or to appeal our decision on your request. We will not treat you differently for using them.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist details until you join the service or ask us to remove you. We keep account information while your account is open and delete most of it within 90 days after you close it, except where we must keep records for legal, safety or fraud-prevention reasons.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls and server security monitoring. No system is perfect, so please use a unique password and tell us right away if you think your account has been misused.
Age
Melanated Connections is only for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger, and we delete it if we learn we have.
